The building at 714 S. 8th was built by the Methodist Church in 1966. In February of 1967, the building was consecrated “Wesley House,” becoming a faith and life community of 40 students, and the center of Methodist campus ministry.
At this time, the ecumenical partnership known as the Campus Christian Center utilized the facility at 812 S. 8th Avenue for the campus ministry programs of its Presbyterian, Lutheran and Episcopal members. For most of those years the building was known as ‘The Crossways’. This building was sold in April of 1980.
The United Methodist Church joined the Campus Christian Center partnership in 1979, and on October 3rd the CCC Corporation purchased Wesley House and the adjacent land, renaming the facility, CHRISTUS COLLEGIUM ‑ Center for Campus Ministry.
The building provided a greatly enlarged facility for campus ministry purposes. In addition to offices for campus ministry clergy and support staff, there are a number of rooms that are utilized for worship, fellowship, music, study, education, and meetings of various types.
